Meet Pastor Bill and Sherry
Sherry and I have been married over 40 years, we were “high school
sweethearts”.
We have 4 children:
Jenny is our first born and she lives in Plymouth, MN
Sarah, Jeff, and Hannah live in Olathe, Kansas
Ann, Mike, Gage, and Erin live in Bettendorf, Iowa
Blair, Courtney, Will and Ben live in Davenport, Iowa.
Ben is the youngest member of our family
( he was born on September 22, 2008 ).
Sherry and I were born and raised in the Davenport, Iowa area. I worked for Deere and Company for 29 years. I was able to take an “Early” retirement and had my own consulting business for six years. My consulting was centered around Team Building, Trust, and Conflict Resolution. In 1999 Sherry and I made the decision to move to Ely, where we had owned a vacation home for 10 years.
In 2002 I felt the call to become a Commissioned Lay Pastor. After almost two years of training, I was commissioned by the Presbytery of Northern Waters as the full time lay pastor for St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower, Minnesota.
Sherry had her own 15 year career as a district sales manager for Avon Products, after raising a family of 3 girls, one boy and a very demanding husband. For seven years, after moving to Ely, Sherry and Jenny were
co-owners of “Country Simple Pleasures” and then renamed “Blair’s Point”. Sherry now is a full time pastor’s wife, administrative assistant, master church greeter, and my leadership coach. She is also my best friend and my inspiration.
When I was installed as the pastor of St. James, in January 2005, Sherry and I made the decision to move to Tower and live in the manse (church provided home). We felt that we needed to be close to the church. We both love living in Tower and enjoy the small town environment.
Sherry and I look forward to the opportunity to meet all of you and welcome you to St. James. We know that you will discover St. James to be full of “unconditional love” - just as we did when we first worshipped here.
